Computer Problem Please Help!?

Okay, so I've had this Dell Alienware M11X Netbook Computer for a little over a month now.. It's worked fine ever since I got it.. but recently I've been having a few issues regarding the "browse" option. For example: It won't let me "browse" for a new picture to upload to Skype, Windows Live Messenger (Msn), IMVU etc. to set as my main picture or display picture. It also doesn't let me "save image as" on the internet when I right click & choose the option nothing comes up.. that's exactly what happens when I try to upload pictures onto the internet or programs (Firefox, Internet Explorer haven't tried other browsers like Safari but expect the same result) so I am dumbfounded here.. I thought it could be a conflicting program.. but this is a brand new computer (my old laptop just died on me) and I haven't installed very many programs other than "Tuneup Utilities, AVG Internet Security 2011" and a few others that I used to have on my older laptop and wouldn't think they could cause this problem. I tried switching off AVG's firewall in hopes of success but to no avail. I also tried doing a System Restore to April 13th 2011 (oldest date there was) but still.. to no avail. So I honestly don't know what's wrong with it.. I've never had this problem in the past and I would really like to find a solution. Yes I've done Google searches... Yahoo searches.. but I can't find ANYTHING to help me. I also tried to do a "registry clean" & "registry defrag" that didn't seem to help so I ran sfc /scannow in command prompt to hopefully find any missing .dll files & fix this.. but that didn't solve anything either.. I thought it might have been one of my Firefox add on's known as "DownloadThemAll!" that stopped me from saving pictures off the internet because when I right click and choose "save image with DownloadThemAll!" or "start saving image with dTa OneClick!" it will let me.. but sometimes come up with an error so it doesn't work ALL of the time like the regular way.. but I disabled it & that also didn't do a thing to help. I've done virus scans with AVG too but there's no way I could have a virus I just got this computer.. plus I've ran searches before STILL no help.. I would like to know what IS causing this.. I've asked my friends they are no help to me.. I ask you guy's but I don't get any answers or the answers you give me don't work.. would restoring my computer to factory settings do any good? Because it HAS worked in the past.. just not recently. & Would backing up my computer/reloading it with the backed up data cause the problem to reappear once I've restored it? Please someone give me a clue as to how this came about.. because I have no idea and would really like to post more pictures to Facebook.. etc. Thank you & 10 points goes to the most detailed answer that helps me figure this out.
