McCain knows it's already over, but his angry temper can't just walk away honorably - he has to lash out in spite at Obama and the rest of the world. This is now a one-issue election: the economy. On that battlefield, McCain doesn't stand a chance. He has no plan, no policy, no ideas. No one cares whether he and Palin are "mavericks," and his personal background is irrelevant. At another time and under other cirstances, he might have been a decent choice for President, but not here and not now. He's hired every member of the Bush/Rove dirty tricks squad that eviscerated him in 2000, and before all is said and done he will use them to smear Obama three ways to Sunday. But it won't matter, because it's already over.
